Elnora Marie Barrow, age 92, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City, following a period of declining health. Elnora was born December 17, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul Luther & Blanche Elizabeth (Welch) Hoffman. She was united in marriage with Jesse C. Barrow on March 17, 1938 in Covington, Kentucky, and the couple celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage before Jesse's death on September 4, 2006. During WWII while Jesse was deployed with the US Navy, Elnora worked for Monroe Auto Equipment as a time-keeper for the company as they made airplane parts for the war effort. Elnora and Jesse moved from Monroe to Caro in 1956, until Jesse took a job with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn in 1963. The couple returned to Caro to enjoy retirement in 1988, and Elnora became very active in the community. She was known for her love of music, and was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church Choir, the Sweet Adeline's in Huron County, and always enjoyed singing with Jesse as they entertained family and friends. She was also a charter member of the Caro Community Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, Caro Wixon Club, and in earlier years the Versatile Club. In her younger years, she liked to bowl and play Canasta with friends, and loved to take trips with Jesse in the family plane. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery and was an excellent seamstress, often making clothes for her entire family. When Elnora's daughters were growing up, it was not uncommon to see her roller skating, playing hop-scotch or jumping rope with them. Her zest for life was evident in everything that Elnora did. Left to cherish Elnora's memory are three daughters, Carol (Patrick) Stapleton of Caro, Loretta Welsh of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Barrow (Ken Mordhorst) of Westland; six grandchildren, Heather Gauthier, D'Anna (Chris) Obey, Hobart (Clare) Welsh II, Christopher (Beverly), Jeffrey and James (Judy) Stapleton; six great-grandchildren, Emma Stapleton, Sabine Welsh, Hobart Welsh III, Jeff and Ryan Stapleton, and Darren Gauthier; one sister, Wilma Horvath of Oregon, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Patrick L. Stapleton and Jacon Gauthier; one brother, Ralph Hoffman; and one sister, Florence Meek.
