Elsie Florence Hutchinson-Ayliffe of Vassar, formerly of Caro and Unionville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 14, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie was 96 years young and a vivacious soul who brightened the lives of all that she knew. She was a busy bee with an appetite for life; a true fashionista and social butterfly. She loved cooking and it always brought her great happiness knowing people enjoyed her delicious dishes. Elsie finished entire crossword puzzle books, believing it was important to always keep her mind busy. She loved going out to bingo with her "girls" and would even let the boys join in from time to time. She never missed a birthday, never forgot a friend, always kept in touch and always said, "I love you." Elsie loved romance novels and classic movies, such as "Gone With the Wind." Elsie loved singing and had the voice of an angel, and although she played the piano and organ, she never learned to read music, learning to play each lovely tune by ear! Christmas was her most loved holiday and she would bake dozens upon dozens of scrumptious sweets and send them off sorted into charming tins. Elsie inspired us to find good in all things and to forgive the ones we love. She showed us what courage was and how to love unconditionally. She was proof that it is never too late to fall in love. Even through heartaches and tribulations, Elsie always kept her face towards the sunshine. In the words of Scarlette O'Hara, "After all, tomorrow is another day!" Elsie is survived by four children, Sandra & Paulino Ruiz, Ron Cummins, Ethel & Willie Hawley, Sherry Hutchinson; twenty-three grandchildren, Romie Koper, Sulema Schaffer, Becky Graves, Aaron, Anthony, Scott and Jason Ruiz, Curt Hall, Heather Collver, Justin Cummins, Annie Ruiz, Joseph and Lisa Hutchinson, Richard Ellis, Chad Mead, Troy and Nathan Hawley, Jeff Hutchinson, Tarena Ray, Mike and Crystal Nelson, Shawn and Tiffany Shaw; fifty-four great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her first love, Leslie Hutchinson, and her last love, Howard Ayliffe; two sons, Harry and Joe Hutchinson; one daughter, Vickie Nelson and her husband, Tony; one great-granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Ray; and one great-grandson, Dylan Schaffer.
