Elsie Mae Spencer of Kodak, Tennessee, formerly of Caro, age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 31, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie was born June 2, 1933 in Caro, the daughter of the late James and Helen (Spencer) Green. Elsie loved to travel and was particularly fond of exploring the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, where she visited Cades Cove and delighted in watching the black bears. Above all else, Elsie found her greatest joy in her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Left to cherish Elsie’s memory are her children, Kenneth Spencer, Valerie Spencer, and Rosemary Spencer; her grandchildren, Bill Spencer, Tiffany (Jeff) Stephens, Amanda (Tony) Riney, Kenny (Jennifer) Spencer, and Kari (Justin) Dyke; thirteen great-grandchildren, Bryce, Seth, Skylar, Nikolai, Mady, Maggie, Gaby, Link, Ganon, Beau, Bear, Dawson, and William; rental grandchildren, Megan and Jordan; and her sister, Rosie Jordan. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her siblings, Jim Green, George Green, Thelma, Alice, and Betty Jean; a son and his wife, David and Denise Spencer; and daughter-in-law, Karen Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Kelly Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Wahjamega Cemetery in Caro. Elsie’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
