Elvera L. Deering ,93 of Elkton passed into eternal glory on February 10, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City.
Elvera’s husband Jacob C. Deering, Jr. preceded her into heaven in 1987. Together they owned and operated the Surge Dairy Equipment Store in Elkton for many years. Also, preceding Elvera into eternal life were a granddaughter, Connie Lewis; her parents, Gustav and Elsie (Zabell) Rook and siblings: Arthur Rook, Marvin Rook, Ruth Christner, and Wilma Schneider Hay.
Elvera was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton, Women of Trinity, a charter member and longtime treasurer of the Elkton Historical Society and former member of the Elkton VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting antiques and Depression glass at “Vera’s Resale Store” in Elkton.
Surviving are her two sons, Roger Deering of Linwood and Dale Deering of Oklahoma and her daughter Sandra (Gerald) Krohn of Essexville; grandchildren: Christopher (Jaime) Krohn, Shannon (Mark) Fuhrman, Deb (Matt) Zondlak, Renay Deering, Mark (Amy) Deering, and Hanah Deering; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Britney, and Emily Zondlak, Ryan O’Hearn, Erica, Carly, Kyle, James, Jacob, and Justin Krohn and Avaree and Marcus Fuhrman.
Visitation will be held at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton, Sunday, February 12 from 3-7 PM.
Pastor Rodney Schwab will officiate at Elvera’s funeral service 11 AM Monday, February 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton, with a luncheon to follow in celebration of her eternal life and faith in God. Burial will be next to her husband at Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
