Elwyn "Pete" W. Belding

E. Pete Belding age 82, formerly of Pigeon died Sunday morning, August 14, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.

He was born September 2, 1928 in Pigeon to the late William and Oleta (Bishop) Belding. After graduating from Pigeon High School, he was inducted in the US Army and served in Korea. After his tour of duty, on December 30, 1949, he and Betty M. Schultz were married. They moved to Colorado, where Pete went to Gun Smithing School. They lived in several states before moving back to Pigeon in 1961. Pete retired in 1972 after 50 years of building and repairing guns. Betty preceded him in death February 10, 1980.
Pete enjoyed cooking and putting on wild game dinners, hunting, trap shooting, play cards and spending time with his family.

Surviving are four children, Kathy (Bob) Taylor, Jeff (Anne) Belding, Beth (Gary) Knoblock and Teresa (Chris) Lambert; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Matthew, Emily, Joel, Becky, Abby, Braden and Chelsie; six great grandchildren, Chase, Charlie, Annika, Stephanie, Natalie and Melanie. Preceding him in death were four brothers, Sheryl, Cedric, Royce and Theodore Belding and two sisters, Maureen Kretzschemer and Trudis Corum.


A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Saturday, August 20, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. The family will receive friends from 2 until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the family.
