Emma Kuck Kohl passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Austin, Texas where she has resided since 2004. Emma was born on March 12, 1920 to Adolph and Rosalie Kuck of Geiger Road near Elkton, Michigan. She was one of 11 children and is survived by one brother Karl of Waterford, Michigan, and one sister Johanna Fuerst of St. Helen, Michigan. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton, Michigan.
Emma and Robert V. Kohl (a World War II veteran) were married in 1942 until his death in 1996. They were blessed with six children, Sharon Rose Miller (Austin, Texas), Dale Robert (Crawfordville, Florida), Mark Allen (Clinton Township, Michigan), Keith William (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Ginger Lynn Hooper (Eau Claire, Wisconsin), Scott Andrew (Lapeer, Michigan) all surviving. Twelve of 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
The Kuck farm has been in the family for a century and is still farmed, although dairy operations were discontinued. The Kuck family reunion is still held annually on the third Sunday in August at the original home site. Emma was preceded in death by three sisters: Albertina Miller, Martha Milz, and Alma Burow: by five brothers Albert, Ed, Daniel, Samuel, and Alfred; and one grandchild Robert V. Miller.
A memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Elkton on October 9, at 11:00 AM. Interment and a lunch will follow the service.
