Eric Matuszak

Eric Matuszak of Bay City, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his home. Eric was born February 25, 1966 in Caro, the son of the late Michael Patrick Matuszak and Gaylene Roselyn (Urban) Matuszak. He aspired to be a sports commentator, but was employed at various retail stores in the Caro area. He also delivered the Flint Journal and was a manager at a Wisconsin Arby’s. Eric loved the Detroit Tigers and could quote stats on players from the 50’s. He also enjoyed WWE wrestling, coached basketball and softball, and enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s sporting events.

Eric is survived by two children, Samantha Roat and husband, Kyle, of Fairgrove, and Scott Matuszak of Cass City; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Elijah and Elikai; two sisters, Mariann Matuszak of Caro and Alyssa Zacharias of Caro; two brothers, Richard Matuszak and Stephen Matuszak and wife, Annie, of Caro; step-mother, Linda Matuszak of Caro; and a step-father, Bruce Wright; and many nieces and nephews. Eric was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Gaylene Roselyn Wright.

In keeping with Eric’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor David Wilczynski officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Ellington Township Cemetery.
