Erich K. Gennrich

Erich K. Gennrich of Caro, age 67, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw, following a period of declining health. Erich was born June 25, 1950 in Jever, Germany, the son of Grete Henriette (Koeller) Gennrich and the late Erich Fritz Bruno Gennrich. His family immigrated to the United States when Erich was a youth, and later moved to Warren where he graduated from Lincoln High School. Erich became a United States citizen and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage with the former Catherine Engelhardt in Warren, and she survives him. Erich was employed for more than thirty-two years as a bill poster for Gannett Outdoor Advertising. He was an assistant scoutmaster for Troop #570 in Caro, where he assisted his sons in becoming Eagle Scouts. Erich was an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed camping, family activities, horseshoes, hunting, and card games. In addition to his wife, Catherine, he is survived by his four children, Erich J. Gennrich and Lynn of Caro, Jennifer & John Conrad of South Mills, North Carolina, Adam & Jennifer Gennrich of Sebewaing, Matt & Merina Gennrich of Caro; several grand- and great-grandchildren; his mother, Grete Gennrich of Caro; siblings, Reinhild & Dan Bednarski, Erika & Gary Reynolds of Bruce Township, Renate & Bob Woodward of Caro, Peter Gennrich and Barb of Tawas; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor John D'Arcy officiating. Military honors will follow provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Caro American Legion Post #7.
