Erma L. Rounds, age 90, of Pigeon, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her home with her beloved God Daughter Debbie at her side. Erma was born on September 8, 1921 in Linkville, Michigan, daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Arndt) Finkbeiner. On February 28th, 1936 she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On April 26th, 1936 she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed. She received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. On May 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to Harold H. "Fuzzy" Rounds at the St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage. Harold passed away July 10, 2004.
Erma was a graduate of the Linkville Lutheran School. She was a faithful and active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over 85 years, where she and Harold were often the first people at church on Sunday mornings, preparing the church for worship and serving as greeters. She was a member of St. Paul Ladies Aid and Altar Society and a representative with the Lutheran Womens Missionary League (LWML) for over 50 years. Erma was a member of the Caseville Retirement Club, a member of the 600 club for bowling and an active Detroit Tigers fan. She has held many positions for over 50 years in the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post #2236, and volunteered her time for other numerous activities, such as Meals on Wheels and the Pigeon Food Pantry. Fuzzy and Erma were famous for their wild-game dinners and turtle feeds.
Erma worked at the Gambles Store in Pigeon for over 24 years for Drydie and Joanne Haist, a job she said was "big fun everyday." Erma had a great sense of humor and a flair for the theatrics. She, along with her friend, Marian Kumaus, performed their famous "hole in the bucket" skits at church and community functions for over 45 years, well into their late 80's. She had profound faith in her Lord, loved helping her church, the local community, and adored her "angel dog" Teddy.
Erma is survived by her loving God Daughter Debbie Scott, special niece June Dunn, her dearest friends The Fred and Olga Renn family and The Terry Gettel family, and her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 53 years, Harold, and her brother, Walter Finkbeiner.
A Scripture Service will be 5pm on Sunday, November 27 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon.
