Erna Deanne Farrington, 86, of Caseville, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Shelbyville, Michigan while on hospice care.

Erna was born August 8, 1937 in Highland Park to the late Ernest and Elta (Hesbon) Hicks.  She attended Wayne Memorial High School and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree.  She was a high school English and Social Studies teacher with Taylor Schools, retiring in 1997 and moving to Caseville.

Erna loved Caseville and became an active member of the community; she was a member of the Caseville Historical Society, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, Caseville Election Commission, Caseville Library Club, Oakwood Senior Housing Commission, MARSP, and MEA retirees.

Erna is survived by children Connie Green (David Rose) of Shelbyville, Caren (Mark) Blanzy of Mecosta, and Richard (Julie) Pankow of Brooksville, FL; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lee and sister Nancy Darwin.

A memorial mass will be at 11:00am Saturday, February 24th at St. Roch Catholic Church.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the US, the Alzheimer Association or the Caseville Historical Society.
