Ernest C. Sherman

Ernest C. Sherman, age 77, of Sebewaing, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away August 24, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Ernest was born November 8, 1943 to the late Claude and Illa Mae (Gotham) Sherman.

Ernest was united in holy matrimony to Shirley (Guillett) on June 13, 1964. He graduated from Unionville High School, Class of 1963. Ernest started working fresh out of high school at Defoe Shipping until 1976, then went to Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing, until he retired as a Supervisor in 2008. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sebewaing. Ernest loved spending time with his family for all holidays, special events and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

Survived to cherish his memories: wife of 57 years, Shirley Sherman; children and grandchildren: Robert (Cindy) Sherman, Justine (Devin James) Sherman, Sadie Mae Sherman, Ann (Luke Holley) Cater, Cody (Katie Ducharme) Cater, Ellery Ducharme-Vanhevel & Gwen Vanhevel, Kasey (Raini Lucas) Cater and a very special great granddaughter, Aslynn VanMullehom, Randy (Kayla) Sherman, Brandon (Lindsey Pobanz) Sherman, Ryan Sherman, McKenna & Mariah Christner, Lauren Vauroulias & Kyle Campbell; sisters: Hazel Abbe, Rosemary (Gary) Drews, Joyce (Frank) Spencer, Gloria (Mike) Buchinger, Linda (Oscar) Schmidt, Gail (Mike) Osborn; brother: LeRoy Sherman; brother-in-law, Henry Guillett; sister-in-law, Jackie Guillett; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Claude and Illa Mae Sherman; sisters, Pearl Zaleski and Bonnie Fischer; brother-in-laws: Richard Zaleski, Leo Fischer, Glenn Abbe, Gerald Guillett; sister-in-laws: Sandy and Stella Sherman.

Visitation is Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.

Funeral service is Friday, August 27, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will be private at the church cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the American Legion Hall in Sebewaing.
