Ernestine Lajoie

Ernestine H. LaJoie, age 89 years, of Caro, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. The former Ernestine Cramer was born on April 24, 1918 in Fairgrove, and with the exception of wintering in Florida, was a lifelong resident of Tuscola County. She was a Fairgrove High School graduate. Miss Cramer married William B. Gardner, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She then married William F. La Joie in 1972, and he preceded her on December 25, 1989. Mrs. LaJoie was a homemaker and throughout the years had worked at Caro Laundry, Nickersons Market, and retired from Michigan Sugar Company. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Robert (Barb) Gardner of Caro, Roger (Delphine) Gardner of Wayne, Ronald (Laurel) Gardner of Grand Rapids, Ruth (Rev. Patrick) Neff of Surprise, Arizona and Rose (Terry) Creteur of Caro; a daughter-in-law, Janet Gardner of Unionville; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gwen Rettelle of West Branch, Margaret Putnam of Caro and Lois Cutler of Fairgrove; one brother, Ralph (Ethel) Cramer of Lake Wales, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Gardner, in 1989; and a sister, Lillian Voss. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Neff officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
