Esther Christensen

Esther Davis Christensen, age 92, passed away October 20, 2011 in Burlington, North Carolina. She was born November 27, 1918 in Akron, the only daughter of three children born to the late Milton J. and Ethel (Rayl) Bender. Esther was a 1936 graduate of Caro High School. She was united in marriage with Carmen T. Davis on March 3, 1937, and lived in the Thumb area until moving to St. Louis in 1947. Carmen preceded her in death. She later married Paul Christensen, and he also preceded her in death. Esther, a long time resident of Michigan and a native of Tuscola County, moved to North Carolina in 2000 to be near her daughter after the death of her second husband. She had lived all but the last eleven years of her life in the Bay City, Saginaw and Midland areas of Michigan. Esther is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Swank of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Katherine Davis of Stuart, Florida, Robert & Amy Davis of Lighthouse Point, Florida, Donald Davis & Sandy Chapman of Okemos; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton J. and Glenn Bender, and one grandson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Interment will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donors Favorite Charity.
