Esther Rendon

Esther V. Rendon, age 89 years, of Caro passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at That Touch of Class AFC Home in Caro. She was born on September 28, 1919 in Chanute, Kansas to the late Antonio and Etta (Meharry) Varela. Esther Varela married Reymundo Rendon in 1936 in San Antonio, Texas, and then moved to Caro. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2005. Esther was a devoted wife and mother, and a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved her family, cooking and gardening. Esther was a life member of the Caro Eagles Aerie #3587 and the Caro V.F.W. Auxiliary #4164. She is survived by six children, Josie (Wayne) Payne of Caro, Alicia Majask of Caro, Nancy Bennett of Caro, Ray (Lucy) Rendon of Caro, Joann Broadworth and Chris Schantz of Charlotte, and Guadalupe (Doug) Hall of Caro; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; her siblings, Frances and Ben Rendon of Caro, Gloria Moore, Linda (Navor) Valenzuela, Mary Lou Varela, Yolanda Martinez, Bobby Varela, all of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children, Guadalupe and Ray Jr.; one great-grandson, Brent Romain; one brother and two sisters, Robert Varela, Josephine Garcia and Juanita Morales. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Vigil for the Deceased will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
