Esther Lucille Stirrett

Esther L. Stirrett, 87, a lifelong Caseville resident, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at home with family beside her.

Esther was born in Caseville, on December 29, 1921 to the late Twilton and Sara Mae (Grigg) Heron. On January 22, 1943 Esther married Hall “Archie” Stirrett at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Bad Axe. Archie preceded her in death on February 20, 1999.

In 1984 Esther retired from Caseville Public School where she had worked as an assistant cook. She had been a member of the Caseville School Board of Education and Caseville PTA. She was active in the Chandler Presbyterian Church. She loved going to BINGO, casinos, playing cards and playing games on her computer.

Esther is survived by her seven children, Vera Stewart of Caro, Kay (John) Sweeney of Metamora, Gail Wilcox of Caseville, Judy (Roger) Meredith of Cass City, Keith (Michelle) Stirrett of Caseville, Patricia Stirrett of Caseville, and James (Lauran) Stirrett of Freeland; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Grigg of Caseville, Beatrice Anklam of Pigeon, and Barbara Diller of Caseville; brother Clare Heron of Caseville; sisters-in-laws Gloria (John) Belew, Jane Klaska, Dorothy Nugent, Floy (Gene) Alent, and Vera Broomfield, all of Bad Axe; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas and Francis Heron and her sisters Leona Kreh, Isabelle Kreh, Sara Jamison, and Sybil Heron.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 30th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Ron Grimes of Chandler Presbyterian officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Twp. Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Caseville Public School.
