Ethel Nora Czernik

Ethel Nora Czernik, age 87, of Flint, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019.

Ethel was born on October 18, 1931, in Bach, Michigan, to Walter and Hattie (Nitz) Jahr. She owned and operated the Traveler's Motel in Sebewaing, owned a restaurant for a year in Montego Bay, Jamaica, worked 15 years for the State Hospital in Caro as a Nursing Supervisor, and for the State of Florida as a Health Inspector. She attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton. Ethel enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, was a political activist, and helped in the local neighborhood watch.

Ethel is survived by her children: Barbara (Ken) Jubar of Holly, Allen (Terri) Czernik of Sebewaing, and Kim Czernik of Flint; grandchildren: Brandon (Gina) Jubar, Jason Jubar, Aaron (Jill) Jubar, Shawn (Nicole Macklin and Stacy Macklin; great grandchildren: Kaleb, Tyler, Jaymin, Juli, Jack, Cole and Corinne; brother, Dan Heinitz; and nephew, Shawn Heinitz.

Ethel was preceded in death by her special friend, Domingo Berlanga.

Visitation will be Monday, February 25, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 4-8pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will take place privately at Silverlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Genesee County Humane Society.
