Eugene O. Heinlein, age 74, passed away Tuesday Dec. 5, 2006 at Tendercare in Cass City, following a lingering illness. He was born July 1, 1932 in Richville, the son of the late William Mary (Radina) Heinlein. He married the former Arlene I. Monroe on Dec 15, 1951 in Richville. Eugene enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 during the Korean Conflict and served 16 months in Korea. He was employed with Weber Lumber Company in Vassar for a period of time before working as a carpenter for R.J. Fox Construction for twenty years, retiring in 1988. Eugene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and a long time member of the Richville American Legion Post 400. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and building bird feeders. Eugene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene Heinlein of Caro; three sons and their spouses, Dale Veronica Heinlein of Caro, Lee Renee Heinlein of Saginaw, Dean Catherine Heinlein of San Dimas, CA; eight grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Kurish of Caro and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by one sister and one brother, Evelyn Karpovich and William “Heine” Heinlein.
