Eugenia "Gena" Lurine Specht

Eugenia “Gena” Lurine Specht, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023 after a courageous battle with ALS. Gena was born October 19, 1950 in Flint, the daughter of the late Eugene and Lola (Marshall) Lerche. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and in 1968 she married John Specht, sharing fifty-five years together. Gena went on to work as a health aide for St. Luke’s/Covenant Health Care for over forty-seven years before her retirement in December 2015. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping with her family and loved to watch the Hallmark Channel. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport and adored her church family. Throughout her life, Gena maintained an unwavering devotion to the Lord and her family. Her most cherished role was being “Grammy” to her grandchildren, who she considered her greatest blessing and the light of her life. Gena was a devoted spouse, a loving parent, and a cherished friend. Her legacy is one of faith, love, and kindness. Gena leaves behind cherished memories and lessons in faith for all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Gena is survived by her loving husband, John Specht; beloved daughter and best friend, Melody & Kyle Sutton, and their daughters, Iris & MacKenzie; daughter, Paula Crouch and her children, Kelly Hoard and Alex Crouch; son, Bill Thompson; cousins, who were more like siblings, Doreen & Sterling Huffman and Dale & Betty Lewis; special niece, Amy & Andy Pringle; special nephew, Eugene Nicks; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Gena was welcomed home to Heaven by her sister, Lola Nicks; and grandson, Brian Hoard.
