Eunice M. Leitch, 81, of Chandler Twp. died Saturday evening, October 11, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
She was born May 15, 1933 in McKinley Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Stanley and Florence (Fritz)Schubach.
On January 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Oliver Leitch in Angola, Indiana. They lived in Pontiac while Oliver was employed at Pontiac Motors. In 1960, they moved back to Huron County settling near Elkton where they raised their family.
Eunice enjoyed Tiger baseball, playing cards, cooking and canning. She helped harvesting the apple crop, gathering the honey from their bees and in the spring getting the sap to make real maple syrup. But most of all, she loved being with their children, grandchildren, family and friends. Oliver preceded her in death December 8, 2011.
Surviving are four children, Diane (Gary) Haley of Elkton, Jim (Sheila) Leitch of Elkton, Gerald Leitch of Bad Axe and Vickie (Gary) Forster of Kilmanagh; grandchildren, Jim (Gail) Leitch, Shelley (Tom) Stilson, Gena (Bryan Prill) Leitch, Heith (Angie) Forster, Sara (Brian) Lubeski, Jeff (Brandi) Haley, Gary (Mandy Harmer) Haley, Dustin Forster, Erica (Jamie) Stein, David Haley and Elizabeth Leitch; great grandchildren, Amy, Jimmy and Tyler Leitch, Ashley, Brooklyn and Brittany Stilson, Bailey VanValkenburgh, Gavin Prill, Corbin and Courtney Forster, Isaac, Oliver and KayLynn Haley, Alivia Lubeski and Allen Haley; siblings, Anna Marie Krohn of Elkton, Selma (Bob) Thiel of McKinley Twp., Carolyn Champagne of Bad Axe, Ila Waller of Clinton Twp and Jack Schubach of Sand Point; brothers-in-law, Johnny (Vernie)Leitch of Walled Lake and Daniel Leitch of Bay Port and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son, Gary “Judge”, grandson, Ethan Haley, five brothers-in-law, Eugene, Harry, William, Norman and James Leitch and three sisters-in-law, Barbara Hayes, Myrtle Gebauer and Angeline Gardner.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 15, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Michael Goforth, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Caseville will officiate with burial in Chandler Twp. cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Tuesday and 10 AM Wednesday.
