Eunice D. Wieland, age 89, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro, following a period of declining health. Eunice was born November 8, 1922 in Lead, South Dakota, the daughter of the late John L. & Selma (Witkopp) Gaulden. She moved with her family from South Dakota to Saginaw and resided there until her marriage to Earl Wieland on May 18, 1946. Earl preceded Eunice in death in 1974. Eunice worked for many years as a clerk at the Ben Franklin store in Caro before taking a position at Caro Community Schools as a playground supervisor, retiring in the mid-1980s. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and loved spending time with children, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Eunice is survived by one daughter and her husband, Pamela & John Weidman of Kingston; three grandchildren, Adam, Erin and Andrew Weidman, all of Kingston; one sister, Phyllis Gillam of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra in 1951. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Family Discretionary Fund.
