Inseparable in life, together forever in the presence of their Lord and Savior, J. D and Eva entered their eternal home on Wednesday, January 16th and Thursday, January 17th, 2008 respectively. J.D. was born on May 28, 1920 in Elmwood Township, the son of the late Albert & Hazel (Kinnell) Andress. Eva was born on May 11, 1922 in Brookfield Township, in Huron County, the daughter of the late Gordon & Adiah (Harrington) Roe. J. D. and Eva were joined together in holy matrimony on June 15, 1942 at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene where J. D. had been a member since he was thirteen years old. The couple enjoyed a brief honeymoon in Northern Michigan before J.D. was called to serve in the United States Army. He served in several capacities, Military Policeman and Low Speed Radio Operator. Eva was able to visit him several times traveling to both California and Illinois. In November of 1945, J.D. was honorably discharged with a Tech 4 rating. They returned to Caro to raise their family. J. D. worked and retired from the State Hospital with over thirty years of service. Meanwhile his wife became affectionately known as “Miss Eva” to hundreds of children that she cared for in her home day care. They were both active members of the Ellington Church of the Nazarene. J.D. served in many capacities including usher, Sunday School Teacher, treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent. Eva enjoyed ministering to families through meals, clothing and love offerings. They both believed that their service to the church was an expression of their faith and love for God. Through their almost sixty-six years of marriage, J.D. and Eva enjoyed many trips together. They visited their sons while they were actively serving in the armed forces overseas (England, Morocco and Africa) and in the United States (Delaware, North Carolina, New Mexico, Virginia, Florida, Connecticut and Georgia). They also enjoyed train trips and bus trips out West and up North. They are survived by two daughters, three sons and their spouses, Kay & Bob Berry of Oscoda, Pamela & Jack Hurless of Lafayette, Indiana, Jay & Barbara Andress of Morrisville, North Carolina, Terry & Sue Andress of Coldwater, Tim & Paula Andress of Augusta; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. J. D. is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Hutchinson of Caro, Jean Carpenter of Ludington. Eva is survived by three brothers, Bob & Jo Roe of Saginaw, Bill & Dorothy Roe of Pigeon, Earl & Janine Roe of Kalkaska, and sister, Dorothy & Paul Radabough of Owendale, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to their parents, J. D. was preceded in death by two infant sisters, one infant brother and three adult sisters, Wilma Downing, Beverly Parker and Gladys Andress. Eva was preceded in death by her sister, Latheria Roe & brothers, Donald Roe, Clarence (Rip) Roe & Gordon E. & wife, Lillian Roe.
