Florabell "Tootie" (Hornbacher) Stoeckle, age 93, was born on Feb. 22, 1919 in Sebewaing, MI. She passed away on Nov. 12, 2012 at the Groton Regency in Groton, CT. Florabell relocated to her grandson and granddaughter-in-law's home in Tolland, CT in 2009 to be closer to her family.
She married Alger Stoeckle on July 25, 1942 in Santa Ana, CA. She and her husband owned and operated the Culligan Water Conditioning business in Sebewaing for over 34 years. Alger died on Dec. 18, 1979.
Florabell was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. The Ladies Aid of the church met weekly to quilt and they benefitted greatly from her proficiency as both a quilter and an embroiderer. These remained lifelong hobbies. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and she passed this love on to her daughter, granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Many of her flower seeds thrive in their gardens in Ct.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lee (Ken) Hessler, grandson, John Jeffrey (Amy) Green and great granddaughter, Phoebe Green and granddaughter Jennifer (Paul) Brockett all of CT. Also surviving are Diana (Kevin) Hessler-Chapel, Debbie (David) Hessler-Avrin, Dawn Hessler and their families. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Florabell was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Edward Hornbacker, sister, Virginia and brother-in-law, Anthony Albosta, brother, Vern and sister-in-law, Jane Hornbacker and brother, Wallace and sister-in-law, Mary H. Hornbacker.
A burial service will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 12noon at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
