Florence Marie Baur

Florence M. Baur age 91, of Meade Twp. near Pinnebog died Tuesday evening, April 3, at Huron Medical Care Facility.

She was born August 7, 1920, to the late Emil and Mary (Lackie) Baur in Bay Port.

Florence received her teaching certificate at Caro County Normal in June of 1945 and taught school at several one room schools in Huron County. She then taught at Kinde Elementary, Imlay City Elementary and continued her education while teaching receiving her Master’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. Her teaching career took her to Potter Elementary in Saginaw and when it closed Kempton Elementary also in Saginaw, retiring in the mid-eighties with more than 30 years in education. After retiring, she took care of her mother until she passed away.

She played the organ at the Pinnebog Methodist Church in her early years and more recently at the Sheridan Ave Methodist Church in Saginaw for many years.
Florence had several hobbies including creating beautiful hand painted china, clipping recipes, mainly for sweets, quoting little rhymes and riding around the shore line. She was a very caring and sharing kind of person donating to many charities, and needy individuals and families in need.

Surviving are her niece, Brenda (Gale) VanBrande of Meade Twp.; nephew, Robert (Deb) Baur of North Street; niece-in-law, Mary Baur of Port Huron and several great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Jack and Earl Baur; her sister, Thelma; a nephew, Jerry Baur and a great nephew, Bob Baur Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, April9, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Dave Freeland, pastor of the Pinnebog United Methodist Church will officiate with burial next to her parents in New Bay Port Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Pinnebog United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice
