Florence Thoke

Florence Labelle Thoke, age 73, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Florence was born March 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Helen (Pechette) & William Joseph LaBelle. She graduated from North Huron High School in Kinde, and Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics. She was a member of the American Dietetics Association and the California Dietetics Association. Florence was united in marriage with William Thoke in Chicago, Illinois on April 10, 1970. She began her career as a dietitian in Detroit at the Stouffers Top of the Flame Restaurant and continued with the Stouffers Company in Chicago, where she worked until the death of her husband in 1986. Florence then moved to California and continued her professional career at the Eisenhower Medical Center until her retirement. Florence is survived by three sisters and their spouses, Helen L. & Richard Wolfgang of Petoskey, Suzanne M. & Jerry Lasceski of Fairgrove, M. Jean & Alan Friend of St. Johns; three nieces, Nina Lasceski of Midland, Nancy Chambers and her husband, Bradley, of Petoskey, Julie Friend of East Lansing; two nephews, Karl Wolfgang of Basalt, Colorado and Marc Lasceski and his wife, Natilie, of Lake Orion; great nieces, Hannah, Eleanor and Sydney Chambers and Claire Lasceski; two great-nephews, Mitchell and Jack Lasceski. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother. Florence will be remembered for her gourmet cooking and her love of the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Bears.
