Flossie I. Maynard, age 102, of Pinnebog, died Saturday, August 28, at Verona AFC Home in Marshall with her family at her side.
She was born February 19 1908 in Chandler Twp. to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Nelson) Farver.
Flossie grew up in Chandler Twp. and graduated from Elkton High School in 1928.
On June 14 1932, she was united in marriage to Ezra Woelfle at the Caseville Methodist parsonage. Ezra died February 22, 1936. Flossie and Charles Maynard were married December 13, 1941 at the Pinnebog Methodist parsonage. She and Charlie farmed the family farm in Meade Twp., homesteaded in 1860, until retiring in 1973.
Flossie was a life long member of the Pinnebog Methodist Church where she was active in the WSCS, Mary Eddy Circle and Sunday School. She and Charlie were Farm Bureau members for years. She was a 4-H leader teaching sewing and needlework to many young neighborhood girls. Flossie was an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers and a variety of fruits and vegetables that she canned and froze for the family.
Surviving are three children, Marlene Wolfle (Philip III) Glotfelty of Marshall, Roger (Jean) Maynard of Lapeer and Elizabeth (William) Ingram of Lyons; nine grandchildren, Philip IV, Martha, Steve, Rebecca, Stephanie, Ryan, Rodney, Matt and Laura; ten great grandchildren, Kaylee, Hunter, Philip V, Peter, Parker, Gretchen, Spencer, Rosa, Zachary and Emma; a great great grandson, Philip VI and two brothers, Floyd Farver of Elkton and Cliff Farver of Oak Beach.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Henry and Charles Farver and six sisters, Bertha Gilbert, Bessie Furness, Luella Connors, Ulla Snider, Helen Wichert and Lila Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 31, at the Pinnebog United Methodist Church, Rev. David Freeland, pastor will officiate with burial in Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 4 to 8 PM Monday and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to the Pinnebog United Methodist Church.
