Floyd L Farver

Floyd L. Farver, age 104 of Elkton, died early Tuesday morning, April 7, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.

He was born February 19, 1911 in Chandler Twp. at the home of his parents, the late Thomas and Emily (Nelson) Farver. Floyd grew up in Chandler Twp. and worked on the family farm all his life.
On January 24, 1931, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Furness at the Methodist parsonage in Marlette and made their home in Chandler Twp. Dorothy preceded him in death February 12, 2002.

In his early years, Floyd farmed with his father, they used a steam engine to thrash their grain. As time went on he began doing custom thrashing around the Pinnebog and Gotts Corner area using a gas power McCormick thrasher. Sometimes getting paid with grain, a cow or whatever the farmer had to barter with.

He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, Century Oaks Golf Club, Elkton Euchre Club and a life member of Hubbard-Winsor Lodge #420 F & A M and Elkton Lions Club.
Floyd lived a very active life, living alone on the farm until early this year and still drove his car and played golf until last year.

Surviving are four children, Bruce (Betsy) Farver, Ron (Marge) Farver both of Elkton, Sandy (Art) Carpenter of Holiday, FL and Marge (John) Kanaski of Elkton; a daughter-in-law, Rose Farver of Colfax Twp.; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; a brother, Cliff Farver of Oak Beach and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his son, Merlin; two brothers, Henry and Charles Farver and seven sisters, Flossie Maynard, Bertha Gilbert, Bessie Furness, Luella Connors, Ulla Snider, Helen Wichert and Lila Wilson.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, April 11, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Craig Pillow, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.

Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
