Frances B Heilig, age 75, of Elkton passed away early Wednesday morning, March 30, at the Huron County Medical Care facility, Bad Axe with her family at her bedside.
She was born May 11, 1940, in Bad Axe to the late Walter and Dorothy (Weston) Kesterke.
On August 10, 1957, she was united in marriage to Gerald Heilig at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Hope. They lived in Lewisville for one year and then Kinde. In 1963, they moved north of Elkton and into town four years later.
Over the years, Fran had helped out at many businesses in and around the area, including,
Hamill manufacturing Bad Axe , Huron Medical Care, Bad Axe, Ron's Party Store Elkton, Independent Bank Elkton.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elkton and enjoyed bingo, sewing, doing crossword puzzles and loved to dance.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry, three sons, Randy (Sue) Heilig of Pigeon, Steve Heilig of Elkton and Tony (Deborah) Heilig of Commerce Twp; six grandchildren, Josh, Kim (Ryan), Chris, Shawn (Ericca), Erin (Patrick) and Timothy and two brothers, Robert and Arthur Kesterke.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Violet Friedland.
The family wishes to thank the staff and care givers at HCMC and Heartland hospice for their love and care given to Fran at her stay with them.
There will be no visitation and a private memorial service for the family is going to take place Sunday.
