Frances M. Mccoon

Frances M. McCoon of Caro, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Timberline Lodge in Caro. Frances was born September 10, 1924 in Elkland Township, the daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Dudenhofer) Chaffee. She was a graduate of Cass City High School, attended County Normal, and taught at a country school near Millington for a short period of time. Frances was united in marriage with Dale McCoon on October 25, 1942, and he preceded her in death. She married Lyle McCoon on February 14, 1986 in Caro, and he also preceded her in death. Frances was employed as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional for twenty-five years until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed needlework, knitting, crocheting and playing cards. Frances was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Judy Louks and her fianc, Jerry Corl, of Caro, Cheryl & Robert O'Kelly of Caro, Faye & George Mashek of Eagan, Minnesota, Randy & Sharron McCoon of Connecticut, Melody McCoon of Caro; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Stilson of Mayville, Shirley Chaffee of Columbiaville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Gary Louks; four grandchildren, Brian Campeau, Cody Maciag, Todd McCoon, Amy Kathleen Mashek; and her remaining siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Caro United Methodist Church in Caro with Rev. Dr. Anthony Tomasino officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church Memorial Garden.
