Francis C. Decker, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 2, 2009, following a lingering illness. Francis was born December 13, 1921 in Bad Axe, the son of the late Charles & Theresa (Patrick) Decker. He grew up in rural Cass City on the family farm, coming to Caro to live in 1947. Francis served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked in various jobs in Cass City and Caro before his employment at Flints Buick Plant for over twenty-one years, retiring in February of 1987. Francis was united in marriage with the former Patricia Ahearn on October 5, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224, U.A.W. Local #599 and the Caro American Legion Post #7. Francis enjoyed traveling, camping, deer and turkey hunting, and helping at the K. of C. Hall. Francis is survived by his loving wife of over fifty-one years, Patricia Pat Decker of Caro; one son, Patrick Decker of Caro; his sister, Sr. Marie Decker, O.P. of Adrian; one brother, Arthur Decker and his wife Betty of Cass City and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Nick Decker and Florence Watson.
