Frank L. Malosky, age 76, of Caseville, formerly of Flushing, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long, painful battle with cancer.
He was born July 31, 1928, in Mason, Michigan, son of Felix and Helen (Koscemska) Malackowski, and grew up in Owosso. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1949. On September 23, 1950 he married Arlene Danek of Chesaning. She preceded him in death on June 20, 1977. December 8, 1979, he married Stannette Day of Flushing, in Liberia, West Africa, where he was serving in the U.S. Peace Corps. Upon their return to the U.S., they purchased land and built a home in Caseville in 1985. Frank was a building contractor, builder, and brick mason in the Flushing area, where he built numerous homes, a bowling alley, office building, developed a subdivision, served on the Flushing City Council, and was a life member of the Flushing Lions Club. He was an active member of St. Roch Church, Caseville, past president of St. Roch Parish Council, served as an usher, eucharistic minister, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, served on Huron County Mental Health Board, served 4 terms as Caseville Village Mayor, and on Caseville Village Council. While he was mayor, he was instrumental in organizing the Caseville Downtown Development Authority. He was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Frank was most happy when ice fishing in Michigan or hunting in Montana. He traveled to Montana every October for over 40 years, to hunt and fish, and spend time with his Montana friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diane (John) Walker of Houghton Lake, Kathy (Larry) Fargo of Flushing, and Suzanne (Robert) Elwell of Houghton Lake, three step-children, Mark Day of Wisconsin, Lynnette Day of Flushing, and Renee Day of Pellston; four grandchildren, Frank Seymour & special friend Sara of Fenton, Mark (Niki) Seymour of Flushing, Tonya Glenn of Los Angeles, California, Kurstin (Gary) Dancer of Coldwater; seven step-grandchildren, Adam Jones & Aaron Minor of Flushing, Alicia and Heather Day of Davison, Chandra, Christian & Chrystil Day of Pellston. He especially enjoyed visits from his two great-grandchildren, Logan Lambertson, age 5, of Coldwater, and Maurice Henry Seymour, age 2 of Flushing. He is also survived by one brother Felix (Wanita) Malkaski of Ovid, MI, two sisters, Ellie (Carl) Bowles of Ovid, Mary Danks of Huntington Beach, CA.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Stanley, Joseph, John, and Zigmund, three sisters, Jenny, Pauline, and Helen, one grandchild, Amber Glenn, and a son-in-law, Maurice Seymour.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 :00 AM Friday, April 8 at St. Roch Church, Caseville , with viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. ,at Champagne Funeral Home, Caseville, 989-856-3662. Donations may be made to United Hospice, Marlette, or St. Roch Church Building Fund.
