Frank I. Peters, age 92, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Villages Hospice House in Lady Lake, Florida. Frank was born October 9, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Phillip & Ella (Ponath) Peters. He graduated from Caro High School in 1938 and was united in marriage with the former Maxine E. McLaughlin in July of the same year. Maxine preceded Frank in death on June 21, 2009 after seventy years of marriage. Frank served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a self-made man, boxer, fisherman, hunter and gardener and enjoyed spending time in Canada and Florida. A country music lover, Frank also played guitar, sang and composed dozens of songs. He will be remembered as a hard worker, employed by Detroit Edison for twenty-nine years as a leader, acting field foreman, inspector and divisional instructor in the safety division. He was also employed as a private tree surgeon and as a tree and line foreman with the L.E. Myers Co. for twelve years. Frank was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #17, the Michigan Forestry & Park Association, the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164, the American Legion Post #7, Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F.&A.M., the Caro Kedron Chapter #33 O.E.S as Worthy Patron, the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Frank is survived by his four sons and their spouses, Gary & Bonnie Peters of Steinhatchee, Florida, Roger & Donna Peters of North Branch, Victor & Michele Peters of Flint, Jeffrey Peters of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by his three sisters, Phyllis Mis, Betty Curry and Elenora Radcliffe.
