Franklin Havens

Franklin Ross Havens, age 55 years, of Decker, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1951 in Cass City to the late Fred and Ilah Havens. Frank lived in the Kingston and Marlette areas as a child and young adult; moving to his current home approximately 45 years ago. He was a 1970 graduate of Marlette High School. Frank loved farming and worked for many years on the Havens farm in the area. More recently, for three years he has operated a motor carrier newspaper route; never having missed a day. He enjoyed people, loved kids, and would drop anything he was doing to help others. He spent some of his down time doing crossword puzzles, fishing, and in early years he traveled and enjoyed his camper. He is survived by his siblings, Shirley Sanger of Mobile, Alabama, Bonnie McCombs of St. Helen, Judy (Merlin) Beers of Shingleton, Ronald Havens of Marlette, Donna (David) Barnes of Cass City; his roommate and nephew, Brian Keys; several other nieces and nephews, as well as great- and great-great- nieces and nephews; as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol Havens; and four brothers-in-law. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith, Caro United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Ellington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from Noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Havens family discretionary fund, c/o Ronald Havens, 231 South Decker Road, Marlette, Michigan 48453.
