Frederick M. Jones

Frederick M. Jones of Caro, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at home with his loving family by his side. Fred was born August 8, 1933 in Wyandotte, the son of the late Norman L. and Leeta Fae Jones. At the local Caro roller rink, Fred met the love of his life, the former Alice Mae Vollmar. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 18, 1954, with the wedding officiated by Fred's father, Norman Jones. Shortly after, Fred was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Upon returning from the Wiesbaden Army base in Ulm, Germany, Fred and Alice moved back to Caro to raise their three sons. Fred graduated from Greene's Barber College in Detroit and went on to open Jones Barber Shop, originally located on Lincoln Street and later relocating to State Street. Fred and Alice were members of the Caro Assembly of God Church and sang with Christian Ministries International for over sixteen years. They traveled all over the world singing in Bethlehem, Jordan, and Egypt. Fred enjoyed watching old westerns, World War II movies, and being with his wife and sons. Fred's infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him. Fred Jones leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Freddie & Mary Jones and Tim Jones; grandchildren, Chris & Anna Jones, Jodi Jones, and Zach Jones; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Royal & June Vollmar, Virginia & Bob Becker, and Mary Jane & Norm West, Marilyn Vollmar and Helen Vollmar; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Scott Jones. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caro Assembly of God Church, 1543 VanGeisen Road, Caro, with Pastor David Dietzel officiating. Military honors afforded by Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 and the U.S. Army will follow the service. Fred's family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will be held at Indianfields Township Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Compassus Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion toward dad over this past month.
