Frederick William Werth

Frederick William Werth, Jr., age 81, of Sebewaing, passed away early morning on October 21, 2017. Frederick lost his 3 year battle with terminal cancer in the care of hospice in his home in Sebewaing.

He was born in Saginaw on September 25th, 1936, to Reverend Frederick & Louise (Packard) Werth. He married Barbara Jean Faust on August 11, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Parsonage in Linkville Michigan. He worked as a 2nd Cook on the Stm. St. Crapo, a Plumber and Chief Union Steward at Sebewaing Industries. From 1973-1998 he was a Licensed Master Plumber & Mechanical Contractor and owner of Werth Plumbing & Heating. From 1976-2002 he also was a horticulturalist and owner of Werth Orchard.

He liked carpentry and built several of his family homes by himself for his wife and seven children. In his later years he enjoyed oil painting scenic landscapes.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Jean and three sons; Frederick Jay Werth & wife Jean of Lake Orion, Bennett Ty Werth & wife Kim of Elkton, Todd Alan Werth and friend Krissy Lea Neal of Sebewaing. Three daughters; Colleen Kay (Warren) Iles of San Jose, California, Jacqueline Jean (Michael) Kohler from Sterling Heights and Amy Marie McCollum from Harrison Township,  Michigan. Twelve grandchildren; Sarah (Nick) Lusk from Chesterfield, MI , Warren Iles from Milwaukee, WI, Bryan & Jamie McCollum Harrison Township, Jessica Werth-Kimble of East Lansing, MI, Amanda Werth of Elkton,  Kristen & Jon Kelly of Newport, MI, Frederick (Rick) Werth of Davison, MI, Rachel Brown of Lake Orion, MI, Elizabeth Werth of Austin, TX & Brandus Werth of San Antonio, TX and Sebewaing, MI. Ten great grandchildren, Jadin Mankiewicz's, Brooke Kutschman, Makayla & Brynn Lusk, Xander & Nova Werth, Kayden Kelly, Tucker Werth, Isiah & Emilyn Brown. Also surviving is his sister, Debra (Mike) Herman of Sebewaing.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lynn (Jon) Kelly from Monroe, MI, his parents Rev. Frederick & Louis (Packard) Werth of Sebewaing,  his baby sister, Joann Werth of Saginaw, sister Marlene Fee of Alpena, Carol Wrightman from Gladwin, MI.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Visitation will be from 12noon – 4pm with the service at 4pm. Rev. Michael Boyer will be officiating.

Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.

After this lengthy battle with cancer the family asks that donations be made to his family.
