Frederick Rutherford "Fred" Wrege

Frederick R. Wrege of Caro, age 59, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Fred was born July 8, 1960 in Saginaw, the son of Betty Lou (Bechtel) Wrege and the late John Otto Wrege and was a graduate of Clio High School with the class of 1978. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 1986 while stationed in New Mexico. Fred was employed as an engineer in the automotive and aviation industries and had the ability to fix anything with a motor. He especially enjoyed working on boats and motorcycles, and keeping his fish pond stocked and healthy. Like his father, Fred will be remembered for his naturally inquisitive mind, and his knack for inventions like his motorized boats and bikes. Fred is survived by two children, Jessica Lynn Elliott and James Michael Vaughn, both of Texas; his mother, Betty Lou Wrege of East Lansing; siblings, Lahna Talbert of Lansing, Erika (Mark) Yost of St. Johns, Jay (Sandy) Wright of Connecticut, Alexa (Steve) Hargrove of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Caleb and Mackenzie Jade Elliott, Kayden and Anthony Vaughn; and nieces and nephews, Alexa, Mackenzie and Hope Talbert, Destiny Yost, Amy Wright, Kelly Granatek, Steffanie Hargrove; and very special friends, Ronnie Wilder, Adrian Pena, and Bob Perge. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Freddie Willbanks officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery, with military honors afforded by the U.S. Air Force and Caro American Legion Post #7.
