Fredrick Joseph Ufford

Fredrick Joseph Ufford, 73, of Caseville, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center.

Fred was born January 30, 1938 in Detroit to the late Frederick and Philomene (Trombley) Ufford. He graduated from De La Salle Catholic High School in 1955. On September 12, 1959 he married Mary Jo Sill at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores.

Fred retired from the 36th District Court in Detroit as a supervising teller in 1989. After retiring, he moved from Detroit to Caseville. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles and Caseville Golf Course. He enjoyed golf, hockey, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife Mary Jo; son Michael (Beth) of St. Clair; daughters Jeanne (Thomas) Healy of Chesterfield, Jill (Brian) Mielke of St. Clair Shores, Julie (David) Garstecki of Macomb, Jeri (David) Grigg of St. Clair Shores and Janet (James) Kubiak of Eastpointe; and grandchildren Audrey, Shane, Paige, Allison, Carly, Alaina and Kevin.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, with Fr. Robert Pare presiding.

Visitation will be 2-8 pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service on Thursday in Church. There will be a rosary at 7:30 Wednesday.
