Fredrick A. Wilson , 92, of Pigeon, formerly of Sebewaing, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 under the excellent, compassionate care of Scheurer Long Term Care staff and A&D Hospice staff.
Fred was born August 31, 1930, in West Branch to the late James and Elsie (Crisher) Wilson. He enjoyed 67 years of marriage to Lois I Wilson who he married on April 19, 1953. Fred served in the army during the Korean War, and he was staff sergeant while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Throughout his years of working with his hands, he did many different jobs to support his family – a clock and watch repairman as a trained horologist, a car mechanic and a small businessman in TV & Appliances sales and repair.
In 1976, Fred was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God. He planted a church in Albright Shores and then moved to Sebewaing to fill the pulpit in the Sebewaing Assembly of God. He also served in the Trinity United Methodist Church as a teacher and pastor of the senior members in the church. It was natural for Fred to volunteer his service in leading Bible studies for Scheurer's Country Bay Village, Country Gardens and Long Term Care residents. He also enjoyed mowing the lawn at Bay Shore Camp.
Fred is survived by his children, Donna Wilson of Caseville, Diane Wilson of Caseville, and Wayne Wilson of Bay City, his three grandchildren, Rebecca (Jay) Hatfield, Greg (Melissa) Wilson, and Eric (Tiffany) Wilson all of Ohio, great-grandchildren, his sisters, Elsie Neal of Coleman and Sylvia (Walter) Allen of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by a son, Warren Wilson, his wife, Lois Wilson, and a brother-in-law, Ralph Neal.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Pigeon River Mennonite Church in Pigeon. Visitation will begin at the church at 11 am until the time of the service at 12 noon. Burial will take place privately at Midland Memorial Gardens in Midland, MI.
Memorials may be given to Pigeon River Mennonite Church.
