Died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, at the age of 94. He was born June 5, 1913 in Fairgrove, Michigan, son of the late James C. Kirk and Mary (McCoy) Kirk. George Wilson Kirk met Elsie Laura Palmer in Evart, Michigan where Elsie was teaching elementary school and Wilson was working for the National Farm Loan Association after he completed his studies in agriculture at Michigan Agricultural College in 1933. They were married on July 5, 1941 in Fremont, Michigan and had been married for 64 years at the time of her death on March 12, 2006. Wilson and Elsie moved to Caro in 1945. Wilson retired from the Federal Land Bank in 1974. He was an active member of the Caro First Presbyterian Church for 62 years. He was a former elder and trustee. Wilson was also a former member of the Caro Exchange Club and the William A. and Ruth Janks Foundation Board of Trustees. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and followed sports teams closely. He enjoyed being with family and friends and will be remembered as a caring husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. Wilson is survived by his three children, one daughter, Carole Jean (Kirk) Mauller, and her husband Donald, of Warren, two sons, Kenneth Wilson Kirk and his wife Carol (Sanderson) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Randy Lee Kirk of Lansing; seven grandchildren, Cynthia (Mauller) Gaioni and her husband John of Troy, Scott Wilson Kirk and Brian John Kirk of Dallas, Texas, Julie Lynn (Mauller) Rogers and her husband Brian of Beverly Hills, Gregory Mauller and his wife Marcia of Pontiac, Deborah Lee (Kirk) Lewis and her husband Chad of Roswell, Georgia, Kristine Elizabeth (Mauller) Hall and her husband John of Madison Heights; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Wilson Kirk, Anthony Michael and Rose Marie Gaioni, Katherine Elena and William Graham Rogers, Reagan Augusta Lewis and Alexander Daniel Hall. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife Elsie, their son, Richard Dean Kirk, his four brothers, Fred, John, Robert, and Francis Kirk and his sister, Margaret (Kirk) Scharich.
