Garry L. Cox, Sr.

Garry L. Cox, Sr. of Caro, age 67, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Garry was born February 15, 1952 in Caro, the son of the late Leonard & Helen (Bland) Cox. He was united in marriage with the former Cathy Taylor, and she survives. Garry worked for ten years at Vandemark's Service Station in Caro as a bus and truck mechanic before taking a position with Thumb Electric as the plant operator and mechanic. He retired due to a medical disability in 2002 but continued to pursue his varied interests. Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing piano, and spending time at the family cabin. He will be remembered as a man that could build or fix practically anything and loved time spent on his tractors. He was also a life member of the Caro Moose Lodge. Garry is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Cox of Caro; two children, Garry L. Cox, Jr. of St. Johns, Rick Cox and his wife, Tracylynn, of Caro; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Becky Clinesmith and her husband, Deavare; special nephew, Michael Kish; and his dogs, Snowy and Fluffy. In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by an infant son, Rodney Cox; siblings, Dennis Cox and Sandra Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Private burial services will take place at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.
