Gary E. Carolan

Gary E. Carolan age 71, of Caseville, died Saturday afternoon, October 6, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw following a bout with pancreatic cancer.

He was born July 21, 1941 in Gagetown to the late Arthur and Geraldine (LaFave) Carolan. Gary grew up in Gagetown and graduated from Cass City High School.

In 1961, he started working at General Motors in Pontiac. He left GM for a little while, but returned giving them 30 years of service.
On November 1, 1986, in was united in marriage to Mary J. Gilkerson at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette. They moved to Caseville in 1991.
Gary was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville Eagles and the Caro Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, landscaping and just working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; three children Richard (Penny) Carolan of Gross Pointe, Amy (Leo) Sander of Shelby Twp. and Todd Carolan of Davidson; three stepchildren, Lisa York of Marion, Bryan Gilkerson of Marlette and Vincent Gilkerson of Caseville; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Phyllis Connors and a brother, Paul Carolan.

A memorial mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, October 13, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. His nephew, Fr. Craig Carolan, will officiate with interment in St. Roch Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Saturday after 10 AM. Memorials may be given to the Lustgarden Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714, searching for a cure of pancreatic cancer or to the donor’s choice.
