Gary Clayton Diebel 64, of Atlanta, Georgia, died April 30, 2016 from complications of a stroke he suffered earlier this year.

Gary was born September 5, 1951 to Clayton and Fern (Kain) Diebel on their wedding anniversary. He grew up on a farm south of Elkton and graduated from Laker High School in 1969.

On September 11, 1971, Gary was united in marriage to Kathy Turner in Cass City where they lived for several years. They later divorced. While living there, Gary served on the Cass City Fire Department. In the 1980s, Gary moved to Atlanta to begin his own business remodeling houses.

Gary is survived by his son Todd (LaToya) Diebel and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Cherryanna and Zachary. He is also survived by three sisters, Karen (Pat) Smithers of Elkton, Audrey Seguin of Lincoln Park and Peggy (Hans) Hellwig of Owendale, two brothers, Don Diebel of Algonac and Jake (Cheri) Diebel of Elkton and by his very special aunt, Mabel Kain and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son Troy in 1999 of colon cancer, his parents, and a special uncle, Russ Kain.

A memorial service will be held at Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 11am at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Elkton. Friends may call beginning at 10am until the time of the service.

Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund.
