Gary S. Gintner, age 69, of Selma, CA formerly of Elkton, pass away in his sleep Tuesday morning, July 6, at his home from a heart condition.
He was born August 16, 1939, in Grindstone at the home of his parents, Matilda (Schneider) Gintner and the late Steve Gintner.
Gary was a 1958 graduate of Elkton High School and went on to Central Michigan University for 1 year. In 1961, Gary joined the US Air Force and went to college in the evenings receiving his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Warrensburg State College in Missouri while in the service. After his discharge from the armed forces in 1964, he moved to California and took a position in the corporation offices of the Carnation Milk Company in Los Angeles. In 1984, he began working with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 2004.
Gary was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Easton, CA and enjoyed having his birds, animals and pets around. He was an avid flower gardener.
Surviving are his mother, Matilda Gintner of Elkton; two sisters, Jean (Robert) Bailey of Bad Axe and Sharon Ouellette of Mt. Morris; nieces and nephews, Lori (Tom) Theill, Mike (Stephie) Schmidt, Shaun (Katie) Thiell, Michelle (Chris) Byrnes, Katie, Michael, Joseph, Camdyn, Caitlyn and Landon. Preceding him in death was a brother, Robert.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, July 13, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Kenneth Lueke, pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe will officiate with burial in New River Cemetery, Port Austin.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
