Gary Lee Mckellar

Gary Lee McKellar of Caro, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City. Gary was born January 7, 1946 in Caro, the son of the late Roy McKellar and Avis (Berry) McKellar Yens and was a graduate of Kingston High School. He was drafted shortly after and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Germany. Gary was employed with Saginaw Steering Gear for thirty years, retiring in 1999. He was united in marriage with the former Lora Johnson on June 12, 1993, and she survives. Gary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing cars, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Lora McKellar of Caro; four children and their spouses, Tracy & Chris Jenish of White Lake, Amy & Roland Crain of St. Ignace, Aron & Justine Zatkovic of Bay City, Theron & Dana Zatkovic of Caro; eleven grandchildren, Brendan, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Sydney, Isabella, Logan, Gabe, Madison, Mason, Aubree and Jaxson; siblings and their spouses, Ron & Pearl McKellar of Breckenridge, Mike & Karen Yens of Mayville, Deb Mann of Mayville, Nellie & Chuck Tveter of Selah, Washington, Bob & Sharon Yens of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters-in-law, Dixie McKellar of Colville, Washington and Rose Yens of Lapeer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his step-father, Casper Yens; three brothers, Casper Yens, Robert "Bill" McKellar and Doug McKellar; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Mann. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with private family services to follow. Burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro.
