Gary Samuel O'Connor

Gary Samuel O’Connor of Caro, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born January 21, 1943 in Detroit, the son of the late Elroy David and Phyllis Marie (Robinson) O’Connor. He worked many different jobs, including Holloway Trucking in Wixom and retiring from LDS trucking in 2007. On August 1, 1960 Gary married the love of his life Mary Patricia Burley. Their marriage was blessed with over sixty-three years, five children, and many wonderful memories. Gary was a member of the Moose Lodge, enjoyed boating, and in his younger years, archery. He liked to shoot guns at the gun range and go deer hunting, or rather “beer hunting” with his brothers, sons, and nephews. Gary was an avid golfer, a sport he loved and shared with the whole family. He will always be remembered for being a hard worker and big family man.

Gary leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary; children, Mary Beth Bridges, Garrick Scott (Brenda) O’Connor, Stacy Layne (Jeff Stone) O’Connor, and William Brian (Lisa) O’Connor; son-in-law, Roy John Klinesmith; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Patricia Buniack; sister-in-law, Phyllis O’Connor; many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Marie Klinesmith; son-in-law, Marvin Bridges; and brother, Elroy David O’Connor.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
