Gary Leroy Short, age 74, of Caseville, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.

Gary was born January 16, 1936 in Detroit to the late Glen and Ethel (Jarvela) Short. He married Margaret Gorzas on March 7, 1975 in Mt. Clemens. She preceded him in death May 2, 2010.

Gary was a retired foreman for Cape Industries in Warren. Having had a place in Caseville since 1985, he moved there after retiring in 1998 from St. Clair Shores. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the NRA. He enjoyed boating, fishing, sport shooting, and tinkering in his garage.

He is survived by his children Teal Short (Dean Bambrick) of Clinton Twp, Rhodes Short of Harrison Twp, and Tiffany (Mike) Gennety of Roseville; step-daughters Debra (Wayne) Davis of Texas and Marianne (Bill) Crigler of Utica; grandchildren Mark, Apryl, Trisha, Melissa, Makayla, Gary, Anthony, Stephen, Jessie, Danielle, Dylan, Allesandra and Josh; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Cheryl Bradley of Warren; and the mother of his children Madeline Short of Clinton Twp.

He was preceded in death by his son Gary; step-children Catherine, John and Mark Tallman; great-grandson Hunter; and brother Glen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Caseville with Pastor Michael Goforth officiating.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Monday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and one hour prior to the service in church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
