Gary D. Sprague, 70, of Bay Port, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at home under hospice care, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born November 6, 1947 in Pigeon to the late Russell and Helen (Pallas) Sprague. He graduated in 1965 from Lakers High School. He enjoyed fishing and had done commercial fishing with his grandfather Nijay, father Russell and brother Robert. He worked 30 years at Pigeon Manufacturing, and retired from Richmond Steel in 2010 as a welder. After retiring, he roofed with his nephew’s business, Darin’s Handyman. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, dressing up for Halloween and spending time with his best friend Walt and brother Robert.
He is survived by his children Amy (Tom) Gettel of Sebewaing, Candace Krohn of Sebewaing, Erika Sprague of Bay Port, Ryan Sprague of Bay Port, Shane Sprague of Bay Port and step-daughter Angelina Bieri of Caseville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Sara) of Bay Port and Charlene (Greg) Alexander of Bay Port. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Friday, February 9 th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Elkton with Elder Ervin Haley. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday and continue until the service at 4:00pm. Memorials may be made to the family or Bay Port Community of Christ Church.
