Genevieve Holcomb

Genevieve Holcomb, age 98, of Elkton died Monday morning, January 21, at Scheurer Long Term Care with her family by her side.
She was born November 1, 1909 in Almont to the late Allen and Isma (Washburn) Smith. She moved with her family to Detroit at the age of 4, from there they moved to Gravenhurst, Ont, and then back to Detroit in 1927.
On August 27, 1930, she was united in marriage to Vernon H. Holcomb in Toledo, OH. She was employed at Michigan Bell as an operator from 1928 to 1932 and moved to Elkton in 1943. Genevieve worked with her husband, Vern in the vending business until retiring in 1971. Vern preceded her in death March 8, 1991.
She was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, enjoyed reading and devoted her life to her family.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Diane (Brad) McIlhargie of Lake Twp., Gayle (Fred) Reynolds of Elkton and Dave (Robin) Bruderick of Deland, FL; eight great grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Hartwick, Jennifer Wright and her fiancée, Mike Wyatt, Abigail McIlhargie, Natalie Reynolds, Erin Reynolds and her fiancée, Craig Genow, Melanie Reynolds, Tom Savage and Kelly Bruderick; three great great grandchildren, Alex, Melody and Justin; her sister, Lucille Neeb of Birmingham of Highland and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Ray Bruderick; her son, Lowell Holcomb and her sister, Clarabella Methner.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. David Collins will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel from 1 to 9 PM Tuesday and at the church after 11 AM Wednesday.
