Genevieve S. Lipiec, age 86, of Caseville, died Sunday, January 9, in her home with her family at her side. She was born February 20, 1918 in Lackawana, New York and came to Hamtramck with her family in her youth.
Genevieve married Anthony W. Lipiec Sr. on March 19, 1942 in Detroit. They moved from Detroit to Caseville in 1974. She was a retired seamstress for the Chrysler Corporation. She was a charter member of the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary, a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, St. Roch Altar Society, American Legion Seniors, and the Caseville Eagles REAC.
Genevieve is survived by her son Anthony W. Jr. of Caseville; her daughters, Barbara Lerchenfeld of Warren and Gwen Ploe of Caseville; grandchildren, Michael Weber, Michele (Mike) Weber, Christy (Carey) Grumelot, Karl Lerchenfeld, Stacy Lerchenfeld, Brandy Ploe and Robyn (Brian) Fritz; great-grandchildren Ariel, Joe, Jessica, Kaleb, Katy Lynn, Dalton, Jesse, Cody and Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony in 1987, a granddaughter, Kimberly Lipiec; her son-in-law, Denis Lerchenfeld; two brothers and two sisters.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 12, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. John Weis will preside with burial in the church cemetery. She will lie in state on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville.
