Genevieve Mikolajczyk

Genevieve Mikolajczyk, age 100 years, of Dayton, Ohio died on July 13, 2007 at Hospice of Dayton. The former Genevieve Szczechowiak was born on October 4, 1907 in Toledo, Ohio. She was a resident of Temperance, Michigan until moving to Florida and then on to Caro with her daughter in 1987 where she lived until 1990 and then returned to Ohio. Genevieve Szczechowiak married Victor F. Mikolajczyk on November 27, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1983. She was an original “Rosy the Riveter” at the Willis Overland where she worked on the Corsair plane. Genevieve was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and in addition to nursing, she worked at numerous office jobs. She loved gardening and her flowers and sang on the radio in Toledo and at the numerous churches to which she belonged throughout her life. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia R. Wisniewski of Caro, Rosemary (Herbert) Cole of Amherst, Ohio and Suzanne Whitmill of Carp Lake; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grand-children; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Kowalski of Toledo, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Ward; three sons-in-law, Montfred Wisniewski, Glenn Whitmill and Ronald Ward. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. There will be no prior visitation at the Collon Funeral Home or at the church. Cremation has taken place and Rite of Committal will be at Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills, Florida on her 101st birthday, October 4, 2007.
