George Carter

George P. Carter, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 28, 2009, following a brief illness. George was born May 8, 1942 in Pontiac and came to Kingston as a young boy where he was raised by Anthony & Marie (Haines) Mileski. He was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. George returned to the Caro area where he held a variety of jobs during his working life, retiring in 2002 as a truck driver with Warwick Trucking and Ferrell Gas Company. George joined the Davison Lions Club in 2002 and transferred his membership to the Caro Lions Club in 2003. His commitment to the Lions Club grew over the next several years as he became the Caro Club President, Zone Chairman, Region Chairman and Vice District Governor. He was also a member of the Lions Michigan Eye Bank and may be best remembered as the “Mint Man” for the club. During his free time, George enjoyed watching movies and playing cards with the “guys.” He was united in marriage with the former Joanne E. (Stephens) Kuhl on May 17, 2003 in Caro at the Living Waters Chapel. In addition to his wife, Joanne, George is survived by three children, Dana Marie Carter of Mayville, Elizabeth Donovan of Coldwater, George P. Carter, Jr. of Frankenmuth; four step-children and their spouses, Douglas & Brianna Kuhl of Wisconsin, Curtis & Dahee Kuhl of New York, Timothy Kuhl and his fiance, Courtney Javens, of Georgia, Gregory Kuhl and his companion, Renee Long, both of Mayville; eight grandchildren; two brothers, three sisters and their spouses, Anthony L. & Janet Mileski of Roscommon, Victoria M. Bell of South Carolina, Milessa & Timothy Dunlop of Florida, Laurie M. & Wayne Petroff of Texas, Paul M. & Dawn Mileski of Washington, DC and many aunts, uncles nieces and nephews.
